GRASAG SEEKS EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES WITH INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION

On Monday, February 19, 2024, the GRASAG National President, H.E Emmanuel Owusu, accompanied by key National Executives including Mr. Kelvin Kwabena Torsu, Financial Controller, Mr. Basin N. Sumaila, and Mr. Gideon Odame, International Relations Officer, engaged in a significant meeting with the Press, Information, Culture, and Education Attaché at the Indian High Commission in Ghana, Ms. Sabiya Paul.

The primary focus of our discussion was to explore the educational opportunities that the Indian Government offers to Ghanaian students. This meeting was an important step in strengthening the educational ties between Ghana and India, and it provided a platform to discuss various scholarship programs, exchange initiatives, and capacity-building opportunities available for Ghanaian graduate students.

During the meeting, H.E Emmanuel Owusu highlighted the core objectives of GRASAG and emphasized our commitment to advancing the educational and professional development of graduate students in Ghana. He expressed gratitude for the existing educational cooperation between Ghana and India and reiterated GRASAG’s interest in expanding this partnership to benefit more Ghanaian students.

Ms. Sabiya Paul, on her part, provided an overview of the numerous educational programs and scholarships offered by the Indian Government, specifically targeting African students. She underscored India’s dedication to fostering educational exchange and capacity building in Ghana, noting that such collaborations are pivotal in promoting mutual understanding and development.

The discussions also delved into potential collaborative projects, including joint research initiatives, faculty exchange programs, and internships that could further enhance the academic experience of Ghanaian students. Both parties acknowledged the importance of cultural exchange in enriching the educational journey and agreed to explore avenues for promoting cultural understanding between the two countries.

Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity for GRASAG to introduce its mission, activities, and achievements to the High Commission. This introduction paved the way for future collaborations and underscored the potential for GRASAG to serve as a bridge between Ghanaian students and educational opportunities in India.

As a result of this fruitful meeting, we anticipate a series of follow-up engagements to concretize the discussed initiatives and establish a formal partnership framework. GRASAG is committed to pursuing these opportunities diligently and ensuring that Ghanaian graduate students can fully leverage the educational resources offered by the Indian Government.
