GRASAG PRESIDENT CALLS ON MANAGEMENT OF NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CIVIC EDUCATION (NCCE)

The Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) recently held an interactive and insightful discussion with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) during a visit led by GRASAG National President, H.E Emmanuel Owusu, to the Commission’s headquarters in Accra on February 26, 2024. Mr. Owusu was accompanied by Mr. Eric Acquah, GRASAG Chief of Staff and Administrator. The visit aimed to introduce GRASAG to the NCCE and establish a collaborative relationship to promote civic education and democratic engagement among Ghanaian youth.

Mr. Emmanuel Owusu, who is also a former member of the NCCE Civic Education Club (CEC), highlighted the club’s significant influence on his leadership journey. He assured the NCCE of GRASAG’s support in engaging the youth through various initiatives on campuses nationwide and emphasized the importance of connecting with the NCCE during their programs and activities.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception from the Commission, Mr. Owusu underscored GRASAG’s commitment to enhancing, promoting, and sustaining Ghana’s democracy. He pledged to support civic education activities aimed at raising awareness among citizens about their rights and responsibilities.

The NCCE management warmly welcomed the GRASAG delegation and proposed several initiatives to revive civic awareness among tertiary students. Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah, NCCE’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, expressed enthusiasm for GRASAG’s goal of engaging in policy conversations and nation-building efforts. He affirmed the Commission’s readiness to partner with GRASAG to mobilize youth participation in Ghana’s democratic processes.

Also in attendance were Mr. Lawyer Brobbey, NCCE’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Finance and Administration, along with the Commission Secretary and Directors of the NCCE. This meeting marked the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at fostering a more informed and engaged youth population, critical to the country’s democratic development.

Through this partnership, GRASAG and the NCCE aim to create impactful programs that will inspire the next generation of leaders and active citizens, ensuring a robust and vibrant democracy in Ghana.
