GRASAG PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO US EMBASSY

As part of strategic agenda of seeking for opportunities for postgraduate students, the GRASAG National Secretariat under the leadership of the H.E Emmanuel Owusu, National President led a nine-member delegation to engage with teams from EducationUSA, a unit in the embassy that promotes US education and the Public Diplomacy Department on January 30 2024.

The nine-member team included; Hamza Haruna, Vice President, Nicodemus N.D.B Derry, Speaker of National Senate, Eric Acquah, Chief of Staff, Rafiu Anwar-Sadat, General Secretary, Kelvin Kwabena Torsu, Financial Controller, Basin Sumaila, Organizing Coordinator, Mercy Yaa Boatemaa Appiah, Gender Commissioner, Gideon Odame Agyiri, International Relations Officer, Catherine Blavo Lotsu, Diaspora Affairs & Partnership Officer.

During the visit, the GRASAG National President, Mr. Owusu retreats GRASAG’S commitment in providing study abroad opportunities for its membership hence the meeting. The discussions revolved around the myriad of opportunities offered by EducationUSA, a U.S. Government-sponsored education advising network.

The Embassy officials mentioned that they run about 30 exchange programs, some are by nominations and the rest are open and individuals can apply if they are eligible. Some of the notable programs are that might be beneficial are: Fulbright Foreign Student Program, Fulbright Research Scholar, YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship.

The GRASAG leadership hinted plans of creating study opportunities for its membership through some partnership with education consortiums and agency.
